THE WORD RULED MIND

I Cor. 3:3 KJV)  For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

I Cor. 3:3  (AMP)  For you are still [unspiritual, having the nature] of the flesh [under the control of ordinary impulses]. For as long as [there are] envying and jealousy and wrangling and factions among you, are you not unspiritual and of the flesh, behaving yourselves after a human standard and like mere (unchanged) men?

Rom 12:2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Jam 1:5  If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Jam 1:6  But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

Jam 1:7  For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

Jam 1:8  A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

A.  behaving after a human standard like mere unchanged men.

1.  The human standard is being under control of ordinary impulses.

          2.  The sense-ruled mind.

          2Co 5:7  (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

B. Man was created in God's class, but Satan caused man to come under domination of the senses.

1.  Rom 8:13  For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

***live after the flesh and die.***

2.  Pro 25:28  He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

C.  The Word- ruled mind is a mind dominated by God's thoughts, nature, and ways.

1.  1Co 2:16  For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

2.  You will be ruled by one or the other----God's word or ordinary impulses.

        i.e.  faith or fear

        sickness or healing

        abundance or lack

        power or weakness

Jos 24:15  And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Deu 30:19  I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

God is speaking about the God kind of life.  The choice is ours.

Paul states in Philippians 3: 12 -- 14;

Php 3:12  Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

Php 3:13  Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

Phi 3:14  I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

MSG --Php 3:12  I'm not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me.

Php 3:13  Friends, don't get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I've got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward--to Jesus.

Php 3:14  I'm off and running, and I'm not turning back.

Which will we choose, God's word or ordinary impulses.
